Heathcote House is our lovely grade II listed home right in the heart of the village of Milborne St Andrew, situated between Dorchester & Blandford Forum.

We offer a warm welcome and friendly service, all rooms are en-suite and tastefully refurbished to a very high standard.

Your Aga cooked breakfast will be served in the conservatory where you can enjoy the shade of the grape vine which is reputedly over 70 years old. In warm weather you are welcome to breakfast on the terrace where you will glimpse parts of the informal half acre garden. The garden is a work in progress.
 
The drawing room has big comfy sofas for a relaxing evening, with a log/coal fire in the winter.
 
Heathcote House is the perfect place for exploring the captivating county of Dorset with countryside little changed from the times of author Thomas Hardy.
 
The Garden Room
 
Ground floor bedroom is light and spacious with a colonial feeling,
king-size comfortable bed, two windows overlooking the garden
and a contemporary en suite shower room.

The Fig Room
 
A fig tree just outside the window and full of fruit in the season,
this pretty room has sloped ceilings and an original cast iron fireplace,
king-size bedstead, the bathroom is spacious and co-ordinated with the bedroom.

The Teal Room
 
Beautiful light room with two large sash windows, zip/link beds make this either a twin or super king-size, relax in the cast iron bath in the original family bathroom that is now your delightful en-suite.

Situated on the A354 midway between Puddletown and Blandford Forum, Heathcote House is in the centre of Milborne St Andrew, opposite the Royal Oak public house.

Although we are dog lovers and have two of our own, we cannot have guests pets to stay.
 
There is a No Smoking policy at Heathcote House.

Local History
 
Milborne St Andrew will always be that destination village with its fantastic location in the middle of Dorset creating easy access from London and all major towns in Dorset. We understand that the village dates back to 901 when King Alfred the Great bequeathed it to his son. It is a thriving village with its historic Norman church, general stores and post office which is opposite the local bus stop.
 
We are not far from the county town of Dorchester which is packed full of Roman history, Maiden Castle one of the best preserved Iron Age forts in Europe over looks the town. The failed Monmouth Rebellion in 1685 led to the arrival of Judge Jeffreys and his infamous Bloody Assizs. The trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs took place in the Old Crown Court in 1834. Thomas Hardy was born just outside the town and The Mayor of Casterbridge was set in Dorchester. On the western side Prince Charles with the Duchy of Cornwall are developing an extension to the county town known as Poundbury.
 
Nestled between Cranborne Chase and the river Stour is the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum. Destroyed by fire in 1731 and then rebuilt in the succeeding decades by two brothers. The home of Hall & Woodhouse 'Badger' ales and the Royal Signals also the annual Great Dorset Steam Fair. Blandford Forum has some outstanding architecture and some of the liveliest days to visit are when the market is in full swing. The town is dominated by the Italianate Church of St Peter and St Paul.
